THE ARTIST:
Al was born in Zuni Pueblo in 1959 & shares both Zuni & Navajo bloodlines..He learned the art of classic Navajo silversmithing from his parents & has grown to be one of the "finest" & more collectible artists when it comes to traditional classic Navajo styles. Being a sand painter, as well as a painter, helps to give Al an 'eye' for creating jewelry that is visually & aesthetically correct by having the perfect balance between metal & stone.
Jake's work demands a higher price than most & it's pretty obvious why.I don't care whether it's his 'more than perfectly made-well executed'cuffs, his rings or pendants,he will always make sure that each piece has the cleanest workmanship & they're 'done right, no matter how long it takes to make the piece..
He is a the epitome of a true artist who knows the "why's",the "what's" & the "how's" of what he's doing & never do you have to question how long he's has been at it,because you will see it in his work.. He is a "Above Average" artist that offers "Above Average" jewelry. All you need to see is that hallmark of his,to know you'll be owning a piece that will be made with the highest grade stones available & a piece that's made to perfection.Al sits high at the top of my list for

DESCRIPTION
Very traditional in technique, but having a modern/ contemporary edginess, this is the perfect example of the caliber of work done by this incredible artisan! It is so well executed & designed with the cleanest, most precise lines that follow the form of the stones & helps to bring focus to them. What I love about how he made this is for the way he chiseled the sterling in each of the stones sections & makes it appear as if it's made in 3 parts & overlaid atop of the other..This technique gives it a dimensional, but very fluid look. It is however, made of one solid sheet. The oxidation is left in the hand chiseled crevices that only enhances the metal's beauty & emphasizes the design.
It's made with some dynamite natural high grade blue Sonoran turquoise that can remind you somewhat of Royston..Each stone has a glossy finish which validates the nice quality they have! The bale has been chiseled as well & is large enough to put a larger strand sterling Navajo Pearl necklace through it. It is shown with an 11 mm bead & can go larger. The bale opeing is approximately 14 mm,so I would not go bigger than that.(In listings-as shown in photo)
