Rarely ever seen in southwestern jewelry is a stone called Chalcedony & if you're not familiar with this stone & so you know what you're buying,Chalcedony is a form of quartz that comes in a variety of different colors,with all having different names. Carnelian is one,Onyx is another,then there's Chrysoprase,there's agate,..It is a mix of having both a transparent and a opaque look..
The large rose is beautifully hand carved, showing off it's detail while it's bezel housing follows it's form.Carefully picked for their effeminate feel are the most beautiful smaller irregular shaped Baroque Pearls that give this a real modern day,trendy vibe! Baroque Pearls are the new 'IN' pearl,with many buyers now getting away from the very uniform perfectly round pearl & leaning toward these irregular funky shaped beauty's.The 4 faceted cuts of Chalcedony lay in a cross shape,while the overall shape is a "Diamond" shape, which gives the pendant more height & width.Laying in between the perimeter & the rose is filigree wire that are shaped like hearts.This heart shaped wire is the design you see in many Oaxaca filigree pieces,which come at no surprize since Federico is from Oaxaca.So you have this added touch!!
It has some weight to it(See weights below),so this isn't no fragile style pendant!The 8 mm bead was perfect for the size of the bale's opening since it is soldered to the base & cannot be opened,so you can use up to a 8 mm or smaller, so the pendant can move & breathe on the beads. From my professional opinion,this large of a pendant I believe looks best with at least a 22" necklace or longer.
Pair this with any lavender or smokey gray wardrobe & or white!Accent it with other pearl pieces,all sterling pieces or ones made with blue chalcedony.This "Ultra Feminine" piece would be perfect for any wedding,anniversary or anytime you want to express your love!
