ABOUT THE BIWA PEARL:

Acting as the outer halo for this piece, are Biwa pearls that are an unusually shaped cultured pearl that come from the freshwater mussels found in Lake Biwa, Japan. Like a fingerprint, each has its own unique appearance and a highly textured characteristic with no 2 being exactly the same. They can have 'bubbly' characteristics on some, to just having a lot of texture on others & it's the only pearl that has as much texture that they have. These vary in shape, since they are all in their natural form.

THE PIN/PENDANT:

Personally speaking, I find nothing is more attractive & displays an ultra feminine feel, than when you pair pearls and turquoise together!! It gives southwestern jewelry a touch of timeless, classic sophistication!

Using a fabulous cut (And color!) of all natural high grade Royston for the center, which was then used to dictate the design. Acting as a double halo are fresh water white pearls that are used as the halo directly outside the turquoise & natural-irregular formed Biwa pearls as the outer double halo. The Biwas as you can see, vary in size, with some being quite linear, while others are chunky fat pearls.

Looking at the backside in the last photo ,you'll see that this can be worn as a pin OR a pendant. .It has a shepherds hook connection and if you wear this as a necklace, you can take some needle nose pliers & open it up to the size you need to accommodate the diameter of the necklace you decide to use. If you use it as a necklace, remember sterling is soft, so you want to open the hook with ease, since you don't want to use force! And lastly, from my professional opinion, because of it's size, this would look better when brought away from the neckline, so it would look best when worn with a 24" to 26" necklace. This size does not look good when worn on a 18" necklace. If you wear it as a pin, this would work better on a heavier material because of it's weight..I would not pin it to any delicate/thin like fabrics.(Like silk)
