Since a young boy who was born & raised in Oaxaca, Mexico, Federico has had a taste for anything that has age & a story behind it. He has been a collector of a vast assortment of both historical Mexican & Native American artifacts for decades now, but with the majority of the pieces he’s collected, many were made in Mexico, like items that go as far back to the Mayans & Aztecs, to the vintage 22k gold coin Oaxaca jewelry, to jewelry that was produced during the height of the Mexican Silver Renaissance Days in Taxco, Mexico to clothing made by the hands of Oaxaca weavers, plus more. And to show much of it off, you would have to travel to his Museum in Oaxaca where many pieces are displayed. Which brings us to this incredibly designed religious necklace, where some of the vintage Holy medals/charms and old circa 1800’s Spanish/Mexican coins in this necklace, were apart of his collection. Some of the newer charms are the Guadalupe charms that sit right outside the larger round center medal (See photo 5) and the “Virgen de Juquila” & Guadalupe charms you see in photo 7.

Hanging & soldered to a heavily oxidized XL chain, there are 20 hanging charms with some of them being reversible & then there are 7 pieces altogether that are actually soldered to the chain, with 6 of them being extremely old “distressed” and worn Spanish/Mexican coins & the other being the center holy medallion(photo 5) for a total of 27…

The chain is made so that you can always add your own holy medals, charms or what ever else you like! If you go this route,it would be best if they have the same patinated/oxidized finishing as the necklace, but that’s your call!

Wear this at it’s full 42-1/2” length or double it to get a more powerful look! By doubling it, the medals have more of a concentrated look. And even though there’s plenty of medals, the necklace won’t look as sparse as it does when worn as a single strand.
