A PERSONAL WORD ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Learning from her well known artisan mother "Andrea Lonjose", Zuni Pueblo artisan Tamara Pinto has taken off in this industry for her own talents & there's a reason why her work is so much in demand! Just look at the tasteful & highly artistic beauty of her incredible work! A few years back, Tamara impressed the judges when she was honored with a 1st place ribbon award at the "Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial" event that has been held for the last 101 years, taking home an award in the "Lapidary" category. (Stone cutting) And just so you know, these aren't judges who have no clue about anything going on in the industry, but are judges who are highly skilled in the field & know what to look for that makes that artist stand apart from the rest..So it was even very obvious to them, that the way Tamara cuts & what she does within those cuts, are unlike any other. I am a huge fan of Tamara's art & anytime one has developed their own signature style as she has, without following the path of what & how others are doing, I can't help but respect.. She is her own artist, who has her own identity, where once you see her work, you will always be able to identify who the artist is.

When you look at Tamara's work, you will be looking at what is referred to as 'wearable art'. What I love about her work is that it isn't just the materials she uses, but what she does TO the materials! If you zoom in, you will see all the texture given to each stone & shell that are then cut to fit flawlessly in between each sterling bar & or bezel. She cuts them with lots of wavy borders, rather than a bunch of straight lines. Every time you look at this on your finger you will not only be reminded of the majestic butterfly, but the incredible workmanship that is signature to Tamara! You can just feel the love & time that she pours into making each & every piece with impeccable qualities!
