FACE OF RING PROVENANCE:
For those of you that don't know,Federico is not only one of our 'high in demand' present day artists, (see my Federico collection) but many of you don't know the legendary collection of period pieces he has collected since a young man that go as far back to the Pre & Post Colombian era, to very early Mexican pieces including Colonial jewelry, to the jewelry that was made during the Mexican Silver Renaissance Days that came out of Taxco & Mexico City, to very old Native American artifacts. Many are displayed in his own Museum in Oaxaca that bare he & his late wife Ellen's name.
Federico owns probably one of THE best, most drop dead collections of vintage Mexican jewelry that you’ll ever lay your eyes on!! (With the focus on Taxco & Mexico City), He has collected these pieces for decades now, that were made by all the masters during the 30’s to the 50’s period when Mexican jewelry was at it’s height at the time. He owns nothing but the finest Amethyst & silver in every genre of jewelry styles one could imagine & with that said, is where this ring comes in.
THE RING:
This is a ‘REPURPOSED” ring, where he took the early 1940’s Mexican made face of the ring & then in present day, added the shank.. I am not sure what the face belonged to, whether it was apart of a bracelet for example, or maybe even apart of a necklace? Not sure..
The face has a beautiful & very elegant cut out design that has flourishing ‘vine’ like lines. In the center, is a big cut of Amethyst where you can see some of it’s quartz properties that are known to this gemstone..The cut looks to be an emerald cut & is dense in appearance, meaning it is not translucent like many gemstone pieces we see. If you’re familiar with Matilde Poulat’s jewelry (AKA: MATL) this was one of her popularized cuts (The other was her ‘Pyramid” cuts) The face is then soldered to the top of the shank.I do want to mention that there is no hallmark on the face itself, whether it’s covered up by the shank & or was on another part of whatever it came from.
THE ADJUSTABLE SHANK:
The recently added bypass shank is adjustable & hand tooled with little crosses on the shanks entirety. It is presently sized at a size 8-1/2. For me personally, I find that it's easier to go up in size, than to go down in size, so if you need me to go up a size (No more than) please let me know at the time of purchasing!! If you need it smaller by a size or so, there are ways to bring it down without the cost of a jeweler(You would have to email me to find out). But you can also bring it to a reputable jeweler to do this for you.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:
In order to give you close up photos so I can provide you with all the detail, photos can tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified than in actuality. So to get an accurate idea of how big this is, please zoom in on the photo where you can see it on the finger or you can do is pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements.. I am not a professional photographer, but I do try to do my best at giving you accuracy in color.
