ABOUT THE ARTIST:
When Navajo Tsosie(Orville) White stepped out to go to work over 30 some years ago,it wasn't to make jewelry, but rather as a carpenter & a mechanic..It was his wife's influence that turned him around & who was the influencing factor.Thank God for her, because we wouldn't have such fine jewelry,by a fine artist without her intuition..Tsosie's work always has a undeniable Navajo look, with a vintage revival sort of appearance.
His use of form & balance between stone & metal is precise & you will be guaranteed a well made piece that will show all the time AND love he puts into each & every piece he makes!

THE PENDANT:
Traditional, very undeniable Navajo & well executed, this large concho style pendant will stand out with just about anything you choose to wear it with! But it's not just the size that gives this the presence it has,but the turquoise can't be beat in this one!
The turquoise is premium top notch quality Kingman & all the stones have a vibrant blue color. The large center cut has a different tonality of blue than the clusters & has almost a 'webby' look, due to it's matrix patterns. The stones are then displayed on a heavy gauge,non-bendable sterling sheet where the sheet is designed with a "Repousse" technique..
This technique is done from the 'backside' to get the lift on the front,so one HAS to have excellent mathematical skills, good eye sight & great dexterity to do this technique accurately when they go to pound the metal. Each section has to have the same mathematical amount of spacing & exactly where needed, otherwise the whole design is a literally a mess! (See pendant's backside)

THE BALE:
One thing you'll get with Tsosie's pendants are his GREAT bales that are fully designed in their entirety & also are made with his repousse work. The bale is really large,so this size will work with a good size diameter bead, but a small would work just as well.It will comfortably fit a bead size NO larger than a 16 mm so it can “move & breathe” on the strand(s).
I find that these larger size pendants, look better If you drop them AWAY from the neck,so something long actually balances it out.It will also look better a bigger bead to compensate for it's size...
Would make a great addition to any Southwest collection!

I am not a professional photographer, but try my hardest to give you accuracy in color. In order to give you close up photos, pictures can tend to make the item look much more larger, with everything being more magnified than in actuality. So to get a accurate idea of how big this is,please pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements.

**THIS IS JUST A SMALL EXAMPLE OF WHAT DICTATES PRICING IN JEWELRY AND OR TURQUOISE.**
1st of all, the artists name has a lot to do with how expensive a piece will be..You can have 2 designers making the same thing, the same way,but if one designer has a 'bigger-more recognizable' name, their's will cost more.It all comes down to how many years they've been in the industry, the awards they've won, the demand for their jewelry or say if a well known artist has passed, etc.
Let's say we got a 2 cuffs put side by side or 2 pairs of earrings, people many times ask,how can you have turquoise from the same mine, that's made by the same artist, the design is closely made the same, but one will be more expensive than the other. Another reason is for the stones they used.It comes down to the cost 'per carat' that was either lower or higher, as well as the size of the stones..(Carat weight)
Turquoise, like any stone, has low & high grades, with high grades costing more than low grades & whether the turquoise is natural or treated, with natural being more valuable per carat than treated..This will determine then how much the stone will cost..Then you look at what the artist had to pay 'per carat' for that grade of stone,as well as how'many carats' for the quality chose..This also relates with other stones, whether it's coral, spiny oyster, diamonds, rubies, peridot, amethyst, etc.
What also dictates the pricing is the cost of the metal,(what gauge did they use?) the weight of the metal & their valuable time to make the piece! Artists put all this time into make sure they are giving us their incredibly made pieces & their time needs to valued & respected!
This is just a little on how pricing works! And in this business, you pay for what you get!
