ABOUT THE ARTIST:
When Navajo Tsosie(Orville) White stepped out to go to work over 30 some years ago,it wasn't to make jewelry, but rather as a carpenter & a mechanic..It was his wife's influence that turned him around & who was the influencing factor.. Tsosie's work has a undeniable Navajo look, with a vintage revival sort of appearance.
His use of form & balance between stone & metal is precise & you will be guaranteed a well made piece that will show all the time AND love he puts into each & every piece he makes!

THE TURQUOISE:
Fairly new to the market is "Sonoran Gold" turquoise that has become a #1 favorite to buyers!! (The other is Kazakhstan-Golden Hills turquoise) Sonoran Gold has a tad different tonality of blue than our USA turquoise, but comes in these incredible intense greens & then a mix of both colors that can remind you a bit of Royston the way the colors fluidly run into the other all in one cut. It comes with all kinds of various matrix patterns, from splotchy black matrix to brown,to white, to having lots of pyrite.
It's popularity has come into this country like a flaming fire & people now can't get enough!

Sitting atop of a oxidized sterling sheet, are beautifully domed cuts of teal blue Sonoran Gold that has white-ish matrix spots & if you look close you can see some green that lays along the bottoms & sides of the stone's perimeter.(See close up’s of the stone)
The workmanship in this pendant can't be beat, nor when it comes to a great looking bale, this pendant has it going on!! The sterling is designed with lots of repousse which is a technique that all jeweler's can't do,but when you got a artist like Tsosie, who knows what he's doing,he makes it look so easy! Repousse work is done from the 'backside' to get the lift on the front,so one has to have great mathematical skills, good eye sight & great dexterity to do this technique accurately.(See backside photo)
Tsosie makes these GREAT bales that are fully designed in their entirety & also is made with the repousse work. It's nice & large,so this size will work with a large diameter bead,as well as a small! It's not over the top,nor is it so small that it can't be seen, but has a 'just right' sort of look.If you zoom in on photos on the mannequin, you will see that it looks good worn with a shorter length necklace,as it does with a longer one!
This will be a nice addition in or out of the Southwest!

**BELOW IS JUST A SMALL EXAMPLE OF HOW PRICING WORKS IN JEWELRY AND OR TURQUOISE.**
1st of all, the artists name has a lot to do with how expensive a piece will be..You can have 2 designers making the same thing, the same way,but if one designer has a 'bigger-more recognizable' name, their's will cost more.It all comes down to how many years they've been in the industry, the awards they've won, the demand for their jewelry, or say if a well known artist has passed.
Turquoise, like any stone, has low & high grades, with high grades costing more than low grades & whether the turquoise is natural or treated, with natural being more valuable per carat than treated..This will determine then how much the stone will cost..Then you look at what the artist had to pay 'per carat' for that grade of stone,as well as how'many carats' for the quality chose..This also relates with other stones, whether it's coral, spiny oyster, diamonds, rubies, peridot, amethyst, etc.
What also goes into the final pricing is the cost of the metal, the weight of the metal & the TIME to make the piece! People just don't realize all the time that an artist spends that go into making a piece!
This is how pricing works! And in this business, you pay for what you get!
