What I love about Navajo artist Ronnie Willie is for the fact that he's not just stuck in a 'turquoise-coral-spiny oyster' box, but rather an artist who sees the beauty of all stones & uses them whenever he comes across some that have some amazing 'over the top-character'! Being I continually carry his work, this isn't the 1st time he's brought me a well made piece with a phenomenal-non traditionally used stone!!

At 1st glance,I thought the hot pink-lime green colors were 'heat treated' to make the rock look like it does, but he was telling me that when he got it at the Tucson Gem/Mineral show earlier this year, the seller actually cut this for Ronnie & this is how it looked when it was sliced! So these colors are NATURAL! I find that when you look at it straight on,the colors are more of a pastel green,soft pink & lavender..It's when you turn it in certain lightings that's it's really vibrant! The tiny sparkling crystals are beautiful, with colors of slate, clear & pinks.

The huge geode sits in a heavy gauge sterling & has added weight from all the hand tooled-1/2 moon repousse appliques that surround the stone. The bale has a 3/4" opening & even though it has a 19 mm opening, you would want no more than a 18 mm diameter size bead to hang it from, so the pendant can 'move & breathe' on the beads. Also from my own professional opinion,this 5-1/8" long pendant works best on a longer necklace of at least 22" or longer & taken away from the neckline because of it's large size, but that's your call..The sterling is given a mirror polish finishing & is what contributes to it's contemporary edginess!
