A WORD ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Only 32 years old & asked for by name, Tyler has made quite the name for himself in the Native American jewelry industry.. Regardless of the amount of artisans out there, Tyler's work stands apart from others, since he is producing some phenomenal looking cluster work in todays market..

As a teen, Tyler could not escape the art of making jewelry, since he happens to be the son of the late Navajo artist, "DEAN BROWN".. Dean taught the young Tyler the art of making traditional Navajo jewelry where he taught him 1st with earrings, where he had him working with super light gauge 32 gauge sterling, so if there were many mistakes(Which there were!) it wouldn't be too, too costly.

Tyler comes from a long list of well known "Navajo Royalty" with just a few of his uncles being Hemerson Brown, Anthony Skeets & Lee Charley. His cousin is Mathew Charley & the late KIRK SMITH was a 2nd uncle.. He LOVES working with vivid colored materials & is always working on trying to come up with new ways to create different style cluster pieces, which is one of his favorite style's that he loves making!

THE PENDANT:

Beautifully made while staying within traditional Navajo techniques, this is designed with cuts of deep blue Lapis that are on the 'Cobalt' blue side. Using a rectangular shaped cut of Lapis for the center,Tyler then carefully hand picked some chunky oval cuts for the halo.Little star conchos & sterling beads alternate in between each cut.

What I LOVE about Tyler's pendants is for the fact that he makes them to where they have versatility, so you are given a few options with this one! You can either use his beautifully made tapered bale OR you can remove it & use the shepherds hook! And the nice thing about having a removeable bale is that you can apply the bale to any other pendant you have that has a shepherds hook on the back! And if you use the shepherds hook, you can then hook the pendant to a sterling Navajo Pearl strand or maybe a Lapis beaded necklace! Your choice! (See photos 9 through13) The bale has about a 15 mm opening (about 5/8") so it will accommodate a hearty necklace..

In my professional opinion, this size pendant looks better worn with a necklace that's in the 18" to no more than a 22" length. Anything longer, it may not be noticed as much.
