ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Born, raised & presently residing on the Navajo reservation in the town of To’hajiilee,(Toe-hah-jah-lee) NM, Navajo artisan Dakota Willie was born to make jewelry. And when you got the last name "Willie" & your father is RONNIE WILLIE, there's no way you can escape the art of creating jewelry, because just about everyone in the family makes jewelry & all have made a name for themselves in the industry & are known worldwide. (See my Ronnie Willie, Tawny Willie (Cruz), Cooper Willie,Shaminika Willie & Rudy Willie listings who are just a few of Dakotas cousins & the latter being his uncle.)
Dakota learned like many Navajo children learn & whether it's the parents, the uncles, aunts or grandparents, in Dakota's case it was his father Ronnie Willie (See my listings) & his mother who took Dakota under their wing when he was only 8 years old & has now been making jewelry for 23 years.
Dakota is an "Artist" & not just in jewelry design, he also spends his time as a clothing fashion designer, loves to paint & loves doing anything that's artistic & creative..He specializes in traditional Navajo jewelry & many are made with a contemporary edginess..

THE PENDANTS:
All 3 of these pendants are made with a traditional Navajo edginess & each have their own repousse/stamped design.
The deep green Royston (Design 1) is the only one out of the 3 that is done in a contemporary finishing & because the drop was square & Dakota turned it around to lay in a 'diamond" shape, makes this the only one that's a 1/8" of an inch longer. Designs 2 & 3 are done in a matte/oxidized finishing which give them more of a 'aged' look. All of them will compliment today's traditional Navajo jewelry collection .
The bales are unique for the fact that they are made in a rectangular form as opposed to a tapered bale-round form, like we usually see.The pendants are in the 2-1/8" average length & from my professional point of view, this smaller size pendant works well when they are worn on nothing longer than a 20" necklace. (18" is preferable) Anything longer,it will get lost & wouldn't be noticed as much. The bale openings have a 8 mm (3/8") opening,so nothing larger that can be worn for the necklace. bead, (Shown with 8 mm /18” in photo 2) These traditional pendants work well with a strand of Navajo Pearls-Oxidized beads.

Please Note:
To give you close up photos allowing you to see all the detail, pictures can tend to make the item look much more larger & much more more magnified than in actuality. Close up's make the item look so large & then you get it in hand & you are shocked because the item is much smaller than how they looked in the photos..So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, what you can do is pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements.
