ABOUT LARRY COOLEY TURQUOISE:

The turquoise that this was made with, came from the late "Larry Cooley's" private collection. Mr. Cooley was one of the most reputably known turquoise vendors in the industry, who artists would go to when they wanted the highest quality turquoise for their own designs.. Since he was very knowledgeable, he knew what separated the junk from the premium grades & was committed to offering only the finest that each mine produced. He was one who wouldn't dare offer turquoise to someone, that he himself, wouldn't want.

One would be right to say that, the turquoise he collected & sold, were qualities that only the finest of the finest "Turquoise Connoisseur's" would buy..He had a vast collection of nothing BUT premium turquoise that were all natural,since his rocks were mined long before they started treating turquoise & had the best that each mine produced.

So these cuts are an excellent grade of natural turquoise, which is getting more & more difficult to find anymore, unless you're willing to pay top dollar per carat. That is if you can find any, since much has gone into private collectors hands & have become very valuable... After Larry's passing, everyone wanted dibs on his whole collection, but because of Federico's long time connection with Larry & Larry's family, he was fortunate to purchase this 'once in a lifetime' limited & very pricy collection(This is reflected in price) So once these stones are used up, they're gone!

DESCRIPTION:

To hand pick stones like these to match this perfectly, is an art all in itself & is actually what dictates the uniformity that this well designed necklace displays.. These were picked with an excellent eye for size!

It's designed with 58 well matched oval cuts of TOP NOTCH turquoise (Reflected in price) & for Federico who's known for his over the top jewelry, this one is designed in a more 'understated'-delicate style that's easy to wear & says "more, with less".

Being it was more important to pick all the same size cuts,than it was for picking cuts that come from the same mine, this necklace is made in a "Sampler" style & the pros of a sampler, are for the fact that you get this ultimate contrast throughout, since each of these mines produce different tonalities of blue & produce a wide variety of matrix colors that go from golden brown to tan,to red brown to some having black matrix!

The design is dominated, where the necklace has 26 panels that have a 2 stone drop & that's not including the larger 2 stone drop Pilot Mountain turquoise center..

If having 'quality' turquoise is more important to your investment, I personally would rather pay more for that, than to have a bunch of cheaper pieces with junk turquoise that will never hold their value! You cannot even touch many of these cuts since some of these mines have closed & or have gone into collectors hands..But if you were to find them, you'll pay a high price per carat for this sort of quality.
