he beautiful Morenci turquoise that this is made with, came from the late "Larry Cooley's" private collection. Mr. Cooley was one of the most reputably known turquoise vendors in the industry, who artists would go to when they wanted the highest quality turquoise for their own designs.. The turquoise he collected & sold, were qualities that only "Turquoise Connoisseur's" would buy.. He had a vast collection of nothing BUT premium turquoise that were all natural, since his rocks were mined long before they started treating turquoise..

These are "Excellent-Choice Grade-Premium" cuts of natural Morenci turquoise & after Larry's passing, everyone wanted dibs on his whole collection, but because of Federico's long time connection with Larry & Larry's family, he was fortunate to purchase this 'once in a lifetime' limited & very pricy collection(These reasons are reflected in price) So once these stones are used up, they're gone! In this business, all you had to say was "Larry Cooley Turquoise" & that was all your had to say...

THE NECKLACE:
Get ready to clutch your pearls & grab the smelling salts ladies, because this one might make you feel like fainting! (or have gone to heaven & back!!) Just when you think you've seen all of Federico's "earth shattering" sized necklaces, another one comes along & gets added to the list! I do stock or have stocked quite a few of these outrageously large sized necklaces, but this one takes it all & has to be one of my most elegant! It's the "Crème de la crème" of sophisticated southwestern turquoise necklaces!

You won't find ANYWHERE in the necklace where anything was used in a sparing size or frugal way.. Everything about it is very "signature" Federico & overly generous! Made in a 30" long length, are 17 large size panels that dictate its 1 POUND weight!! Used, are these HUGE sized free form cuts of premium Morenci turquoise, where each have a substantial amount of carat weight. You can't even touch, nor get this type of quality anymore without paying TOP, TOP dollar, nor could you find this many stones matching up this well in color!!

These have that gorgeous blue color that made the Morenci mine one of the most sought after mines back in the day! But it's not just their vibrant blue color however, but if you zoom in on the photos you'll see how they have metallic copper bits in many of the cuts! So all that brownish color you see, is actually copper! The reason for this was Morenci was one of THE biggest copper mines in the USA & was actually 1st used for mining copper..That is, until they found turquoise there & then the turquoise was their main focus of mining! Thank God they found the turquoise because Morenci proved to have some of the 'highest grade" turquoise that was found to have hardness (Equates to quality) Seeing this copper in the turquoise, actually makes it much more rare & valuable..

There is absolutely nothing more gorgeous than pairing turquoise & pearls & especially when you use Baroque pearls!!The funky shaped pearl clusters act as a halo for the turquoise & it's these that really give this it's wonderful elegance, while having a very sovereign feel!
