ABOUT LARRY COOLEY TURQUOISE:

The turquoise that this is made with, came from the late "Larry Cooley's" private collection. Mr. Cooley was one of the most reputably known turquoise vendors in the industry, who artists would go to when they wanted the highest quality turquoise for their own designs.. Since he was very knowledgeable, he knew what separated the junk from the premium grades & was committed to offering only the finest that each mine produced. He was one who wouldn't dare offer turquoise to someone, that he himself, wouldn't want.

The turquoise he collected & sold, were qualities that only the finest of the finest "Turquoise Connoisseur's" would buy..He had a vast collection of nothing BUT premium turquoise that were all natural,since his rocks were mined long before they started treating turquoise & had the best that each mine produced.

So these cuts are an excellent grade of natural turquoise, which is getting more & more difficult to find anymore, unless you're willing to pay top dollar per carat. That is if you can find any, since much has gone into private collectors hands & have become very valuable... After Larry's passing, everyone wanted dibs on his whole collection, but because of Federico's long time connection with Larry & Larry's family, he was fortunate to purchase this 'once in a lifetime' limited & very pricy collection(This is reflected in price) So once these stones are used up, they're gone!

THE NECKLACE:

This exquisite & very upscale necklace is made with an Arizona sampler that is made with a medly of Kingman(Mostly) Morenci & Ithaca Peak turquoise..Each stone was carefully hand picked for their vivid bright blue color,as well all the wonderful character of pyrite & warm brown matrix that are known to these particular mines. There is a ton of contrast that's going on,with there being a wide range of blue hues that honestly give it a real catchy & VERY stunning look to the eye.

Beautifully laid out are 2 graduated strands of chunky "free form" cuts that are very generous in size & are not meant to be evenly matched in size as much as they're meant to match for the blue color that each stone has & from the mines from which they came from..Each strand is anchored from 2 large trillion/1/2 moon cuts that are placed toward the closure.(See photo 8,9) & it's by placing those cuts where they are, that balances the weight of the necklace. Each cut is connected by 'o' ring connectors which will help this to fold easily for situations like traveling!

Unlike many other necklaces that I have had or presently carry by Federico,(See my vast Federico listings) this one is not 'over the top' in size,but it's the way it's designed that gives it real stunning statement, where all you see is all this gorgeous turquoise being displayed on the upper body!

Even though it's designed with a signature rock known to the southwest,this is a necklace that can take you to New York's "Met" to any other high end event, but can easily be taken down a notch if you want to dress more casually..But regardless of when & where you wear it, the one thing is is for the fact that all eyes will be on you the moment you walk through the door!
