EARRING PROVENANCE:
For those of you that don't know,Federico is not only one of our 'high in demand' present day artists, (see my vast Federico collection in every category!) but many of you don't know the legendary collection of period pieces he has collected since a young man that go as far back to the Pre & Post Colombian era, to very early Mexican pieces with the focus on Colonial jewelry, to the jewelry that was made during the Mexican Silver Renaissance Days that came out of Taxco & Mexico City, to very old Native American artifacts. Many are displayed in his own Museum in Oaxaca that bare he & his late wife Ellen's name. These came from his Museum & come from his collection of gold Colonial era jewelry.

STATUS DURING THIS TIME PERIOD:
Goldsmiths living and working back then, crafted jewelry by hand and took painstaking care to ensure that the jewelry that was made, was at it's finest for the wearer. The jewelry that was worn was a symbol of status and personal style. Financial status back then was not only determined by the size house you lived in,but also was determined by the clothes you wore & the jewelry they had & of course the materials in which the jewelry was made with..(I.E. Gold, Silver, Diamonds & other precious gemstones) The size of the jewelry also said a lot about how much money and status you had.. Being these are made with gold, along with having all these diamonds ,the original owner of these no doubt, had to be wealthy and would have been considered "refined" & in a higher class in society.

ROSE CUT DIAMONDS:
Made with Rose cut diamonds, which were highly sought after during the 1500’s to the early 1900’s.They were extremely popular in the Georgian/Victorian era & are known for their minimal amount of facets & also which are cut with a ‘flat’ bottom, as opposed to the pointed diamond that we normally see & because of this flat base, it allows them to sit lower in the setting then other cuts. They have a very ‘raw-organic’ look & because they didn’t have diamond cutting machines back then, each diamond was totally cut by hand!.
Especially during the last 5-10 years, Rose cuts have been making a big comeback, mainly because of their vintage aesthetic. So if you’re somebody who desires a very alternative looking, more organic look to your diamonds, rose cut diamonds are the way to go!

THE EARRINGS:
Oozing elegance while having a serious sophisticated presence, these rose cut diamond earrings are set in both 18k gold & silver. The diamonds are rose cut diamonds, where each diamond is cut differently from the next, with no 2 being the same.
Designed in a 3 tier connected chandelier design, the diamonds sit low in their housing on the 1st & 3rd tier, whereas on the 2nd tier, they sit more flush (Except for the very center). On the 1st & 3rd tier, the diamonds sit in a unique housing (See photos 4,6,7) & then right where the diamond sits, this housing acts as prongs to hold them in. On the backside of all 3 sections, they are covered in 18k gold & have a little hole cut out on the backside for maximum light to come through.

THE BACK TO FRONT EAR WIRE:
This type of ear wire is actually what validates their age, which was very common to see way back in the 1800's to the early turn of the century.(See photos 10,11,12) I actually thought it would be odd to put them on this way & possibly much more difficult than one would imagine, but actually found it to be quite easy! Each person will be different, so while some will find it easy, it may take others more time to get the hang of it.
The diamonds & gold were professionally tested (2x's) & with the diamond tester, the red light lit up on all 4 bars of the tester.(4 red bars is the highest it goes)
I do want to mention that because of the dark backdrop that these were photographed in front of, it's a little hard to see all the sparkle these diamonds have! I guarantee they will look much better when you have them in front of you!

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:
*****To give you close up photos, pictures tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified than in actuality. For example, the oxidation you see on the top tier, looks more pronounced in the photos, but in person, it's a little harder to tell.
So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, please either check them out being worn to get a rough idea (photos) or you can pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements above*
