For those of us that follow Matilde Poulat's jewelry, (AKA: Matl) you may then be familiar with her "Kneeling Angel" design.. Federico paid homage to this incredible designer who herself, was inspired at what came out of the Oaxaca archaeological sites..This kind of figure is typically found in tin ornaments in Federico's birthplace of Oaxaca & he being an avid collector of her work,I personally give a thumbs up for keeping one of her designs alive!
The design starts at the top with a little Cherub angel who acts as the anchor for the angels to hang from. Looking very Colonial in style, the angel is given textured hair & wings. She kneels while holding a tall detailed floral candle holder, that holds a 3.6 mm round cabochon of Mediterranean red coral. You can see the slight separation of her fingers that hold the candle, her arms have definition & if you zoom in,you will see the floral design & a fish that is in the calf of her leg
They are mirrored,so there is a actual right & left side..The angel is made with a solid, thicker gauge sterling, that is not fragile in the least, but yet have a wearable weight. The sterling is beautifully oxidized.
IN THE LAST PHOTO,YOU'LL FIND THE HUGE PAIR THAT ARE LISTED UNDER THE ‘EARRINGS 3” CATEGORY!! THEY'RE INCREDIBLE!!
