Circa 1940s-'50's Gorgeous Repousse "Pre-Columbian" Designed-Mexican Vintage - Sterling Screw Back Earrings by "JP"
What drew my eye to these was for a few reasons..One is for their "Pre-Columbian" designed drop, 2nd was for their patina & 3rd was for the fine repousse work it took to make them.
I have been collecting vintage Mexican jewelry now for over 50 years now, but have never heard of this artist.. I have tried to research the hallmark, but with no luck. I do however confidently feel that they are a top notch artisan just from the workmanship.
Although made in a screw back, these can easily be converted to a post earring. Since there are no stones to be removed, the cost should be minimal...All the jeweler would do is remove the screw back portion & solder a ear stem in it's place. If you have a laser jeweler, that's even better! Because then, you would not lose any patina since heat is not used, in order to solder! If you go the route without a laser jeweler, tell them you want the same finishing that they have now. (This is something you would provide)

In order to give you close up photos so I can provide you with all the detail, photos can tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified & exaggerated than in actuality. Close up photos can make the item look so large & then you get it in hand & you are shocked since the item is much smaller than how they looked in the photos..So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, please zoom in on photos where you can see them on the ear, or if you have a tape measure, compare that to my given measurements.
