Filigree is an extremely technical & mathematical art form that not all artists have mastered & it takes repetition,a strong desire,patience & years put in to do it right. With these,this technique is obvious that they were made by one of Federico's most skilled Oaxaca artisans.

THE EARRINGS
The beauty & skill of hand made Oaxaca jewelry is clearly witnessed with these charming coral earrings! The steps that are taken to create a traditional Oaxaca earring are all there, from the perfectly formed circular patterns of the curved filigree wiring & it's these wires that have to be mathematically formed,otherwise they will not have the precise look that they have.. You also have the texture that you see in the metal that comes from serrating the metal before the circular forms begin,which is another process that adds time to these earrings.(See all Photos) The coral beads sit in a sunken little cup,where then they are hand sewn to keep them secure & stationary& are framed by sterling wire that has been 'diamond cut' to give them a little sparkle as they hit the light! Two coral beads are used for each of the dangles & adds so much to the overall appearance. They are secured by wire wrapping them to the bottom of the earrings..

These are not over the top in size & do have a wearable weight(See weights below) They have a cultural presence, while offering a very traditional 'Colonial' appearance!
