Federico Jimenez-"William Spratling" Inspired-Hand Carved Dark Purple Amethyst "TULIP" CLIP On Drop Earrings-2-3/8"
If you follow the historical era of Mexican jewelry during the Mexican Silver Renaissance days, then you know & have heard of "WILLIAM SPRATLING" who was considered the "Father' during this time period in Taxco's earlier years.
These 'signature' cuts of Amethyst "TULIPS", were closely tied to Spratling, where he created a whole line made with them & when we see them, we automatically think of one man & that is the name "Spratling". Being Federico was closely tied to some of the most famous names that came out of Taxco from the earlier days & he being a HUGE collector of jewelry during this earlier time period, it doesn't in the least surprise me he would use them!
They are made with some deep colored cuts of Amethyst & do have the quartz properties known to this Brazilian gemstone. The oval cuts at the ear, are nice & chunky & act as the anchor for the hand carved Tulip drop. Both are securely bezel set & are backed by sterling.(See last photo)
If you own any of Spratling's Tulip jewelry, then these are a definite 'must have' earring! They would also compliment any vintage Mexican jewelry amethyst collection & or a contemporary!

I am not a professional photographer, but I do try to do my hardest at giving you an accurate color. Warmer toned pieces can come up much more vibrant & heavily saturated,so please take this into consideration.
To give you close up photos that show all the detail, pictures can tend to look much more larger & much more more magnified than in actuality. Close up's make the item look so large & then you get it in hand & you are shocked since the item is much smaller than how they looked in the photos..So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, please either check them out being worn to get a rough idea (photo 2 & 9) or you can pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements.
