ABOUT THE STYLE:
Arracadas were brought into Mexico centuries ago during the Spanish Colonial days & became one of the most traditional styles known to Mexican jewelry,with the emphasis on Oaxaca,Mexico..They are as Oaxaca as it gets, when it comes to staying traditional & one of most sought after styles. Arracadas come in a wide variety of sizes,from small to extremely large jumbo sizes. (These are the latter)

THE ART OF FILIGREE:

Filigree is an extremely technical & mathematical art form that not all artists have mastered & it takes repetition,a strong desire,patience & years put in, to do it right. With these,this technique is obvious that they were made by one of Federico's most skilled Oaxaca artisans.

THE EARRINGS:

These are not only one of the sexiest earrings,but are absolutely stunning on!! And if you know anything about this art form,then you can clearly see that these are not your 'average nor standard' style filigree earrings,but probably one of the better made filigree earrings that are much more solid in style..

The difference in these as opposed to other filigree earrings is that these have more wire density,much unlike others that are more airy,lacy & lightweight,which adds to their strength,weight & durability.(See photos)There are perfectly formed circular patterns within patterns of curved filigree wiring & these wires have to be mathematically formed,otherwise they will not have the precise look that they have.. The texture you see in the metal,comes from serrating the metal before the circular forms begin,which is another process that adds time to these earrings.(See all Photos)

The garlands of Italian red Coral are hand sewn & the larger size coral beads in the crescent larger part, sit in their own little hand made 'cup' & are all hand sewn down.Coral beads are used for each of the dangles & adds so much to the overall appearance. They are secured by wire wrapping them to the bottom of the earrings

They are culturally sophisticated ,while offering a very traditional 'Colonial' appearance!
