THE CRESCENT MOON:

The Crescent moon has so many symbolic meanings,depending on the country in which they're worn..They can represent being worn to bring luck and wealth, to woman empowerment to representing transitions such as someone leaving one life stage for another--such as childhood-to-adulthood ..They have also been worn by lovers for centuries & especially in Mexico, because they're believed to signify love and fertility. Unmarried women wear them believing that they'll find their soul mate soon after wearing them and married couples use them to represent how lasting their relationship will be with one another..These earrings represent the latter.

THE EARRINGS:

Oozing all the beauty of Oaxaca jewelry, these are made in a very wearable arracada style earring that are completely hand fabricated by the hands of one of Federico's top Oaxacan artisans for the shop. I have to admit, I am in LOVE with these earrings & not just because they're such a beautifully made earring, but you can see the "Hand Made" factor throughout!

The design starts with a 'flower within a flower" layer design at the top & then connected by jump rings, is the crescent moon that is hand cut from a lighter gauge sterling & the way they're designed, are 'mirrored', meaning there's a actual right & left earring, with the chin of the moon,facing toward your face.(See photos)

There are 9 all hand made flowers that follow the outer curvature of the moon & then each of these flowers are taken one by one & soldered to the perimeter of the moon.The coral are then sewn into the hole of the material & secured on the backside by twisting the wire to hold them in place.

Being that these are VERY wearable in weight & size, allows them to be worn by a teenager to adult, while giving you that gorgeous look of Oaxaca.. They would compliment not only a Mexican wardrobe, but will look as great with denim to your favorite dress..
