THE TURQUOISE:
The colors that are coming out of this mine, are truly captivating, with Sonoran being one of the 'most hottest & most in demand' turquoise that's hit our US lands fairly recently (The other is Kazakhstan-Golden Hills) Sonoran Gold is the name for the "premium turquoise" stock that comes out of the Campitos mine in northern Mexico..Similar to our Royston turquoise or some of the other Nevada mines in the way that the colors are produced, with colors of all blue, all green & then you get wonderful formations of the 2 colors running together, just like Royston or Pilot Mountain..It offers a wide variety of matrix colored patterns as well.

THE CUFF:
The cuff is designed in a cluster setting that's made with some of the most deepest, most extremely intense, bold greens you'll ever lay your eyes on! The colors are heavily saturated & if you prefer green over blue, you will love this one!(Please go though the photos!)
They lay in a floral like pattern, with traditional Navajo appliques & beading that surround the cluster design & which lay atop of a cuff that is just short of having a 2" width. The cuff has a corrugated feel & is hand tooled throughout it's entirety.

THE FINISHING:
This is given a "Old School-Vintage Revival" look,to emulate as if it's aged & patinated from time. The deep oxidized color left in the crevices give it more of a 'Chiaroscuro' sort of contrast.

THE STERLING GAUGE:
Al has changed the gauge he's been working with & is now making his cuffs with HEAVY 12 gauge sterling.. If your not sure what 12 gauge means,it means its heavy,it's strong, durable & non-bendable! In fact,it's one of the 1st things you'll notice when you have this in hand,is the incredible weight it holds! It feels extremely solid! (See weights below)
THE ARTIST:
Navajo/Zuni artist Al Jake is considered a 'Veteran-Master' artisan whose work is high in demand & whose work demands a higher price than most..And when you own a piece made by Al,you will understand why. He's one that will always make sure his pieces have the cleanest, most meticulous workmanship & that they're 'done right', no matter how long it takes to make the piece..

**THIS IS JUST A SMALL EXAMPLE OF WHAT DICTATES PRICING IN JEWELRY AND OR TURQUOISE.**
1st of all, the artists name has a lot to do with how expensive a piece will be..You can have 2 designers making the same thing, the same way,but if one designer has a 'bigger-more recognizable' name, their's will cost more.It all comes down to how many years they've been in the industry, the awards they've won, the demand for their jewelry or say if a well known artist has passed.
People many times wonder, how can you have turquoise from the same mine, that's made by the same artist,it's made the same exact way,but one will be more expensive. The reason is, the cost 'per carat' was either lower or higher, as well as the size of the stones..
Turquoise, like any stone, has low & high grades, with high grades costing more than low grades & whether the turquoise is natural or treated, with natural being more valuable per carat than treated..This will determine then how much the stone will cost..Then you look at what the artist had to pay 'per carat' for that grade of stone,as well as how'many carats' for the quality chose..This also relates with other stones, whether it's coral, spiny oyster, diamonds, rubies, peridot, amethyst, etc.
What also dictates the price is the cost of the metal, the weight of the metal & the time to make the piece! Artists put their time into giving us their incredibly made pieces & their time needs to valued & respected!
This is just a little on how pricing works! And in this business, you pay for what you get!
