CUFF'S PROVENANCE:

This came from some very established/reputable Santa Fe residents who are serious Native arts collectors that happened to be downsizing on some personal items of theirs. They had this(And others that will be listed) in their collection for at least 30 years until they thought about bringing it to me.

THE CUFF:

What I personally love about this cuff is how you can actually see a timeline in regards to the tools artists had available to them 80 some years ago , in comparison to the advanced tools we have available to us today.

With that said, the workmanship in this is very raw, to almost primitive looking. You can see this in not only the hand cut & shaped square cuts of turquoise, (where if you look close, you can see the grinding marks on the stones that validate each are hand cut) but you can also see it in the bezels that are hand made from thin/light gauge sterling! In todays market you can buy bezels already serrated, but with these, the bezels are saw tooth/serrated by hand!

Because of the size of each cut it's a little harder to honestly tell you what mine the turquoise is from because of their size & you see very little matrix which normally can give you a clue. I do know however, that with the exception of only one stone turning to a deeper teal color, the quality of these cuts are undeniably a higher grade, being that even after all these decades, they haven't changed color & are just as blue as the day it was made, This is a sign of the turquoise being a harder stone & in turquoise, the harder the stone, the higher the quality & the higher the quality, the less the color changes over time.

This cuff has some amazing historical character & you can't help but step back to decades ago when artists used what they had to work with!

**Because of the design it is not recommended that you adjust it. So it helps to know what wrist size you have & how much of a gap you need to comfortably go over your arm.I have laid out info if you click on:: How To Fit A Cuff , so before purchasing, please read that if you're unsure.. If you need my help don't hesitate to contact me!**
