ABOUT THE ARTIST:

There's a certain look that is found with the jewelry that comes out of the Gallup area & you can definitely see this geographical' s influence in Tyler's work. Now only 32 years old & asked for 'By Name", Tyler has made quite a name for himself in the industry & these days is producing some of the hottest looking Navajo jewelry on the market! There was no escaping for the young Tyler since he happens to be the son of the late Dean Brown.. Dean taught Tyler the art of making traditional Navajo jewelry where he taught him 1st with earrings where he had him working with super light gauge 32 gauge sterling, so if there were many mistakes(Which there were!) it wouldn't be too, too costly.

The style Tyler is known for is like many that come from the Gallup area where the jewelry is made with heavy gauge sterling that comes with some of the most gorgeous finishing that's been heavily oxidized as if the jewelry is aged. This 'Old School" style jewelry was actually 1st accredited to the late great Harry Morgan who was the one who brought this style to the forefront of the industry & then Harry taught Dean's uncle, the legendary "Kirk Smith" who then helped to lay the groundwork for many of our present day Gallup area artists. The rest you might say, is history!

Tyler comes from a long list of well known family Navajo artists, with his uncles being Hemerson Brown, Anthony Skeets & Lee Charley & his cousin is Mathew Charley & not to forget Kirk was a 2nd uncle..He LOVES working with vivid colored materials & is always working on trying to come up with new ways to create different style cluster pieces, which are another favorite style that he loves making! He stays 'true' to his Navajo roots by always having that "Gallup" edginess without getting too modern on us!

THE CUFF:
Designed in a 3 panel cluster that's made with a unique "rusty red/orange" color Spiny Oyster that not only matches from one cut to the next, but each cut are perfectly calibrated in size! These cuts play a dominate role to the uniform look this piece has & these cuts could not have been any better picked!

The cuff is broken up into 3 sections that sit atop of a 5 spread split shank that's made of triangular wire.. It's obvious that Tyler chose the large tear drop center cut that then dictated the overall shape of the center panel. The center is designed with a double Halo, with inward facing tear drop cuts on the 1st halo & then on the outer halo are numerous round cuts.

The large 1.50" x 1.50" side panels are designed in somewhat of a semi circular form, where there's a large round cut in the center & then inward facing rear drop shaped & round cuts that surround the center.(See photo 6) The sterling is left with a lightly oxidized finishing & is the perfect call to pair with other Native made pieces with the same finishing!

WRIST SIZE:
This is made for a medium sized wrist but for one that doesn't need a super large gap opening & is not so "fleshy" since it has only a 1-1/8" gap opening.. This is NOT adjustable. Please know your wrist size before purchasing since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet, so it is important they fit right! If you need help, please don't hesitate to contact me!!
