THE THUNDERBIRD:
Called the "Santa Fe Sunset" Thunderbird Bolo Tie, this signature bird of the southwest is designed with fiery hot oranges like a colorful New Mexico sunset & turquoise that are then mosaic inlaid by the hands of Kewa Puebloan artist-'WARREN NIETO'.. You have not witnessed Puebloan Art, nor a more artistically made Thunderbird bolo till you own one of his ,that by the way, are high in demand & asked for by name! We love Warren's Bolo here at Plata de Santa Fe Jewelry & especially here in New Mexico!
Shaped in a 'boxy" straight edge form, this bird is designed with a head made of orange Spiny Oyster Shell, has a Mother of Pearl beak & a turquoise bead then acts as the eye..It's body is made with 'rounded square' shaped cuts of turquoise & if you zoom in on the photos, you'll notice a channel inlay of shimmery Mother of Pearl cuts that alternate with black jet cuts that are used all along the perimeter of this mighty bird.. The mosaic sits atop of a dark brown Pen Shell backing.

THE TIPS:
Warren knows I LOVE his tips, so he made these with double tips that share the same material color scheme as the bird..The smaller ones (The 1st ones) are made with an impressive precision where they are mathematically precise & measure a perfect 3/4" square with a 5 mm thickness. The channel inlaid material alternates around a square cut of black jet. (Fossilized Coal) The very bottom ones are nice & thick & again, have the same matching color scheme. The art is held onto a 4.5 mm brown bolo strap & comes with an adjustable clasp, so you can wear this high or low! (See last photo)
Warren is a proud Puebloan man who always incorporates something relative to his Ancestral Pueblo culture & so if you look at the backside, you will see how he inscribed "Pueblo Rain Clouds with Lightning"-his signature "Kiva Steps with a Ladder" as well as his hallmark..He gets his inspirations either through 'oral history' that gets passed on from generation to generation or from the walls of Chaco Canyon, where his ancestors once lived.
If you collect any sort of Thunderbird jewelry, then this would make a great addition.. And if you love 'art in shell & stone form' ,there's no way you can't appreciate this!!! Whether your a Texas oilman,Tuscon banker,Santa Fe gallery owner or just love wearing top notch bolos, this isn't one to be passed up!
