ABOUT THE ARTIST:
What some do with paint brushes or what others do in sculpting stone,Kathy's medium is creating art in metal form, with NO 2 pieces of art alike! She is probably one of the most creative artists I am more than honored to carry, where each & every piece ALWAYS leaves me breathless! She is the 'epitome' of a TRUE artist whose work never goes & will never will go unnoticed! She "owns" her own identity & never will you find her copying others!

This 'Rock Star' jeweler was born & raised in New Mexico & now makes Texas her home. But regardless of now being a Texas resident, she lets us know through the pieces she makes, that New Mexico takes up a good portion of her heart & is never far from home.She is a veteran jeweler & has about 30 years under her belt.

You'll find both the Native & Mexican influences that come from N.M ,with many having a spiritual theme.Her pieces are literally treasures to own just like any piece of collectible art. They are creations that are made with a heart full of love behind each & every one & will spoil you with joy every time you look at it!

DESCRIPTION:(TOP SIDE OF RING)
The "Corn Maiden Kachina" is the grandmother of sun and the light & in the Pueblo culture, corn is to the Puebloan people, the very symbol of life. The "Corn Maiden Kachina" brings the power of life to it's people..

This isn't just a ring,but truly a piece of metal art that is interpreted only through the eyes of this highly creative artisan.. Used for her canvas, she creatively 'painted' a picture of the Corn Maiden where all the individual parts of her that you see on both the top & underside, are hand cut & then placed atop of the oxidized sterling platform.

Everything that Kathy incorporated in this ring isn't just put there for ‘looks”, but have actual meaning behind them...

Since corn is sacred to the Puebloan people, I will describe the ring from the 'ground' up to the top:

2 crosses are placed below the land, showing that all comes from the highest being..

The heart symbolizes the center or "core" of our being, from which prayer and moral actions originate

The banner like center is stamped with 'Sun" stamps, since corn could not grow without this lifeforce.

Atop of the Sun stamps is a small cut of vibrant blue Morenci turquoise & wearing turquoise to the Pueblo people, can be likened to a prayer for rain..

She is shown with her eyes closed, wearing a beaded necklace & what looks like a pendant that's hanging from the beads, is actually the Maiden's hands in prayer…

UNDERSIDE & SHANK:
Now for the fabulous underside!! Anywhere you look, there's nothing but art!
There is a brass heart that's placed at the top end & although hard to see, there are what appears to be 'rays' that are inscribed around the heart. On the other end is a brass figure, which also has what appears to be rays.

The shank is straight(as opposed to tapered or split) & on the center is the word "LOVE" where each letter sits raised above the base.Outside the face of the ring are beads that sit atop of the shank.

A PERSONAL NOTE:
All of Kathy's pieces are literally one of a kind, with no 2 being the same, so once this is gone, it's gone!!
