I think a good chunk of the mine was put in this ring!! It's deliciously BOLD AND HUGE! And if you like your jewelry to "Speak" before you get your foot in the door, then this is it!
The massive size stone is from the Pilot Mountain mine & happens to be one of my favorite mines! It's known for having that earthy muddy brown matrix that can dominate the turquoise, with many times where you'll just see hints of teal-to bright blue turquoise peaking through..I have no idea how many carats is in this,but all I can say is A LOT!!
Leon of course let the shape of the stone dictate the design, where then he built all the sterling work around it. Sitting atop of a 3" x 2-5/8" heavy gauge platform, the stone is framed by twisted wire, heavy gauge 1/2 triangular wire & then finally placing his hand made beads that are smaller in size on the east/west part of the ring & then graduated larger sizes on the north/south ends of the ring. This only adds to the length & width to the ring! Each of these beads are then hand stamped(even the smallest ones!) with old stamps that Leon inherited from his mother who was also a jeweler. This ring weighs more than some cuffs & has the perfect balance between stone & metal.
The finishing is richly oxidized & the sterling is brought to a maximum level of beauty! This finishing accentuates each part of the ring. The shank is adjustable & is presently set at a 8-1/2. I can put this on my ring mandrel if you need it a few sizes larger.Let me know at time of purchasing. If you need it smaller, you can take it to your favorite jeweler to do that for you.
