ABOUT LEE BEGAY AT BOTTOM
DESCRIPTION:
With this Tufa cast ring,Lee takes us right to the "Yei Bi Chei" Navajo Ceremony, by giving us this depiction of this night time 9 day ceremony, where the Yei'bi Chei's ask for healing.
The Yei bi Cheii’ is all drawn out by the hands of this incredible artist & then tufa stone was used to create the ring. Tufa gives a texture to the metal & assures this ring to be ‘one of a kind’,since the tufa cannot be used more than once.
The Yei has all the realistic detail, including having a Naja turquoise necklace! He is then carefully soldered to a tapering designed shank that gets narrow toward the undersides center.
It is quite substantial in weight for it's size & is heavily oxidized so you will never have to polish this!
This has “Navajo” written all over it & would be a ring that you can proudly be passed on from generation to generation!
ABOUT LEE:
When Lee Begay started,he started by being influenced by his famous & well renowned brother "Darryl Dean Begay", who is considered a "Master"Navajo Tufa artist himself. So who better to learn from than by the man who is literally a giant in the industry! You can see that Lee had it in him all the time,it just took someone like Darryl to give him the skills to learn Tufa Casting right.
Navajo tufa cast artist "Lee Begay" is a "True Artist" which is what it takes to do the type of jewelry that he is now so well known for..With his work,he is not only a Master Tufa Cast metalsmith, but you have to be a painter at the same time in order to do this type of work.Lee has risen to the top & now like his brother Darryl Begay & cousin "Philander Begay" his jewelry commands respect & top dollar, by creating phenomenal Navajo Reservation depictions of jewelry that can be passed on from generation to generation. His work is highly sought out by only the finest of connoisseurs that collect Native American art that is done in metal form.
