This is another one of Federico's earlier pieces (Also see last photo) that has been in his collection for quite awhile now & is a piece he's hung onto all these years..This is a older piece that was never sold or worn previously.

Federico has always staffed some of the best mosaic artists that hold high rank at being some of the best when it comes to impeccable/exquisite lapidary art & mosaic inlay work.. Their mathematical & artistical skills always seem to be clearly seen in this type of art.

This is a very whimsical-wearable art pin that leans toward being 'abstract', so when you look at the portion that portrays the head & body, you'll see how when you get to the bottom of the body, how it has the lines grooved into the material which depict the Butterfly's abdomen. (See photos-but especially photo 4) Laid on the same sheet of sterling, are 7 linear shapes that graduate in size as they follow along the curvature, which depict the butterfly wearing a Native "Chief" headdress.

All these materials are hand cut & shaped by hand & each section is set in their own bezel with a twisted wire wrap. The materials it's made with are cuts of Blue Gem turquoise, orange spiny oyster shell, shimmery white Mother of Pearl & either black onyx or it could be black Jet (?) On the headdress, the materials are laid horizontally in a channel inlay.

This can be worn by a woman or man & would dress up a wardrobe beautifully! Because of it's weight,I however, would not pin it to any delicate/thin like fabrics.(Like silk)
