Symbolic pueblo symbols are beautifully represented in this pendant made by Kewa Pueblo artisan-"WARREN NIETO"..Everything Warren makes has a Puebloan story behind it & it's almost like he 'paints' his culture through each piece & brings his Pueblo life right to you!

The 3 sectional top is actually a 'Raincloud" & inside the raincloud, each symbol sits inside a border of sterling wire & a mosaic inlay of both cut & crushed stone .The coral has Warren's signature 'Kiva Step design,while the dragonfly is surrounded by Sleeping Beauty turquoise cuts & finally a stalk of corn sits in the center of mosaic green Serpentine.At the bottom of the raincloud section are horizontal bars of sterling with an inlay of mother of pearl & black jet.This portion of art lays atop of a backing of dark brown pen shell.

In Pueblo life,corn is one of the most sacred plants. But corn would not grow, without the much needed supply of rain/water.This pendant is designed with just that. So while you have the raincloud above,the long fringy beads of hand cut Kingman turquoise act as the 'rain'..There is pen shell heishi that alternates in between the turquoise.

Warren made a bale of bone that is actually nailed onto the back of the pen shell. You can use a strand of Navajo Pearls, thick leather strip or you can use a beaded necklace made of any of the materials used in this to put it on! The bale has about a 1/2" (12 mm) opening, but for the pendant to move & breath & so it's not so snug, you want to use something smaller than the 12 mm size.
