What you'll get from this 'Old School" Navajo artisan are personally a number of things,but for a few...For one: It's the obvious years that he put in that are clearly witnessed in each & every piece that's made,where you can just "see & feel" the quality of this man's workmanship & the time he spends to see the piece is made right with outstanding form & balance. For two: Leon comes from an era of time where only the finest turquoise is used,because if he used cheap,treated turquoise,that alone can ruin an artists name & doesn't balance with the phenomenal work he does!

So with that said,this is a top notch Naja all the way around..It has a serious traditional Navajo look where the large size Naja hangs from one of his HUGE bales that he made with super heavy 8 gauge sheet & literally pounds through the thick metal with stampwork.This size bale makes the pendant more versatile, being that you can put just about any medium to large size Navajo pearl beaded necklace through it or even a multi strand stone or sterling bead necklace. (See bale opening size below or in photos 6 & 8) Also zoom in on the last photo, you'll see where I have an all top grade,natural Sonoran Gold nugget necklace that would balance & pair with this beautifully!

SONORAN TURQUOISE:
Since Sonoran turquoise made it's grand entry from Mexico into the USA,it has done nothing but take the USA by storm with it's increasing popularity not only among southwest jeweler's,but buyers as well that are thirsty to get their hands on any jewelry made with it! Sonoran is unique for it's wide variety of colors that it produces,as well as a wide range of matrix patterns & colors..Very similar to Nevada's Royston mine,it produces both green's & blue's.

These particular cuts are some of the best quality coming out of the mine! Their intensity is unmatched & their green is so green & heavily saturated ..If you love green turquoise over blue,you will LOVE these cuts!!! They are framed by a traditional wire wrap that are then finished by beading that he melts down to form into little beads.

THE FINISHING:
The Naja has a hand brushed matte finishing that literally makes gleams with beauty & what is called a "Vintage Revival" finishing.Oxidation is left deep within the stampwork to accentuate the design.
