Kewa Puebloan Award Winning Artist- JOLENE BIRD-Fabulous 4 Strand Turquoise Nugget Necklace- 26 Linear Shape Mosaic Inlaid Drops

$695.00

THE NECKLACE:

Traditionally designed, while having a very contemporary Puebloan vibe, Jolene didn't fall short of giving us anything less than 'wow factor'!! Personally speaking, I have worked with Jolene now for roughly 13 years & there's not much she hasn't made me that I am not literally wow'd by! Her work is unique & different from others you'll find from the Kewa village & I'm always amazed at her artistry & very creative mind.

Having the perfect balance between turquoise nuggets & linear mosaic drops, Jolene used 4 strands of tumbled Kingman turquoise nuggets for all of the linear drops to be anchored from! Each of these drops are given the same shape, but where they differ from one to the next, is based on the mosaic inlaid materials used for each one, so the effect is a wide array of color! There are 26 of these drops that range from being as long as 1.75" to as small as 5/8" (Near the closure) All of the material is cut & shaped by hand & then each are carefully placed atop of Black Jet-Gold Lip Oyster Shell & Pipestone.((See 2nd to last last photo)) The strands are then finished off by 1-3/4" long sterling cones & has a toggle closure.

**To see the amazing pieces I have listed by Jolene, including her EXQUISITE mosaic statue that's titled "KATHERINE AT THE MET GALA"!!!! To find: Put her name in the search bar when you're on the front page of the website! I also have a similar necklace in this same style, but the difference is that one is made with faceted onyx beads!((see last photo! -Under "Necklaces")

*PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:

*****I do not consider myself a 'professional photographer" but I do try to give you photos that are 'realistic" in color, just so you're not shocked, nor disappointed when you get the piece. Although jewelry generally always looks better in person, you still have to take the monitor you're looking at the item with, into consideration. Please go through each photo to see any variation to get an idea. Whether it be your computer monitor or phone screen, the item can appear to be either more vivid (Or duller).

In order to give you close up photos so I can provide you with all the detail, photos can tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified than in actuality. So to get an idea of size, you can either look at it on the mannequin (photo 2 & 14) or if you have a measuring tape, please pull it out & compare everything to the measurements I provided you with.

A PERSONAL WORD ABOUT KEWA PUEBLOAN AWARD WINNER "JOLENE BIRD":

It's pieces like this, that separate Jolene from other artists from the Kewa village and it's also pieces like this that take her individualistic artistic approach to a whole new level of design! Having worked closely with Jolene now for years, one thing I can personally say about her, is that there is nothing that she doesn't come in close contact with that she doesn't get her inspirations from, whether man made or God given. And it's what she sees with her eye that she then goes on to recreate & it’s this, that she also can’t stress enough to her artisan son Charles..She consistently tells him to 'be inspired' by what he sees & then emulate it with a mosaic picture done in traditional stone and shell.

I believe what Jolene offers, is not just about being another Puebloan mosaic artist, doing it the same way as everyone else, but rather stepping out of her own boundaries that separates her from others.. Jolene has wow’d us and all the judges at Native American juried events where she has gone on to making a mosaic inlaid chess set, mosaic sunglasses, fully mosaic gourd pots, mosaic chairs, a mini sized mosaic inlaid Volkswagen Beetle car and even went as far as fully mosaic inlaying a Gibson guitar!!(And that's just SOME of what she's made!) And at present, she's even working on a mosaic 'painting' of a woman she came in contact with that impressed Jolene enough to ‘paint’ her in mosaic form! The word "impossible" is NOT in this artists vocabulary! Jolene's work is highly collectible & gives us a historical ancestral Puebloan past, but with a contemporary edginess !
