Kewa Puebloan artists "Delbert & Torevia Crespin's" work stands in a league of their own.. Yes, you'll find them doing the traditional styles that are known in Kewa jewelry, but more times than not, you'll find them creating these extremely eye catching pieces that make you just want to make you fall to your knees! This is another PHENOMENALLY designed necklace they brought to me & the other I have listed, is just as magnetic to the eye as this one is!!

I personally feel it's the way they work with their colorful materials, but more so, it's their "Eye" for knowing what colors bring out the next, as well as knowing how & where to then lay them that makes each piece brilliantly stand out like nothing you've seen! They have a signature look that needs no hallmark, because once you become familiar with their work one time, you will be able to spot their work when you see it.

Many times we'll see Serpentine used as an accent color in Puebloan jewelry, but when you see it in a massive amount such as this, then this beautiful lime-ish green stone gets taken to a whole new level of "WOW"!

THE PANELS/CENTERPIECE:
Extremely chunky in looks & very well balanced in design, this is made with complimenting colors of lighter yellow green Serpentine & a pastel pink "Lion's Paw" shell that is a beautiful fan shape Scallop shell that is found from the Carolina's to the Gulf of Mexico and down the Atlantic side of South America.

Threaded through & secured to 3 chunky strands of hand made Serpentine beads that act as spacers, are a total of 8 mosaic inlaid panels that have horizontally laid materials of Serpentine, black Jet , Gold Lip oyster shell & Lion's Paw shell that have a black jet backing.

The 4-1/8" long centerpiece is laid in a 'fan shape' of elongated panels of the same materials as above,but only this portion has teal colored Nevada turquoise at the head of it. The color of the Serpentine in the panels & centerpiece are a deeper color than the beads & actually helps to add contrast to the overall color.

THE HAND MADE BEADS:
This is the beauty of Puebloan art, is for the fact that they are the lapidarian' s of Native jewelry where everything is cut & shaped by hand. This was an art that was passed down through their Ancestral Puebloan ancestors who once lived in the Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde areas of the states. And with that said, these beads are completely made BY hand, where one by one, started from the larger rock & then shaped & beveled over & over till the right shape & size is formed. Yes,it's a time consuming process, but the finished result is SO rewarding! Validating the "Hand Made" factor, you'll find some of the beads vary in shape, so you'll find some in a perfect cube like shape while others are more rounded. Remember, these are NOT store bought beads that are then restrung,but cut AND shaped by the hands of these remarkable artists!!! All are in the 10.5 mm size range(roughly a 1/3 to just under 1/2") & just one strand alone is super chunky, but when you put 3 strands together, really gives this that much more powerful of a look!!
