A LITTLE ABOUT 'MILAGROS"

For those who aren't familiar with Milagros, what they are are small metal religious charms found in many areas of Latin America, especially Mexico and Peru. The word “Milagro” means “miracle”. They are also used in Europe, where they are often referred to as Exvotos (Offerings). These small charms, often depicting arms, legs, praying people, farm animals,[planetary symbols and a wide range of other subjects are typically nailed or pinned to crosses or wooden statues of various saints like the Virgin Mary or Christ, sacred objects, pinned on the clothing of saint statues, or hung with little red ribbons or threads from altars and shrines so when people who ask for a miracle to happen, they would then pin these charms to the statues or from altars and shrines in hopes that their prayers would be answered. They are also carried for protection and good luck. Ranging in size from less than 1/2 inch to several inches, they are as unique as the cultures that produce them.

THE NECKLACE:

I have to admit that this is one super sparkling necklace! Made with a modern day edginess, the large Milagro heart is anchored from a 2 strand necklace that's made with some super sparkling faceted onyx beads! The 2 strands are broken up into 2 sections per side by a single textured sterling oxidized bead.(see photos)These beads are also used right above the heart.

THE HEART:

The heart is heavily oxidized & laying atop of it is a heavenly theme with the Sun at the top as it gives life to all things on earth..Below are hands, a star, a dolphin, starfish, turtle and a bird..A tear drop cut of Garnet is used as an accent in the center. The heart sits in a hand made sterling base ,where the outline is done with a 'diamond cutting" technique, so there's additional sparkle when the light hits it!! A garland of black onyx beads are sandwiched between the heart & base. 4 little stars & a dove dangle from the bottom.

Wear this when you want to add some sparkle & would look wonderful with just about any color wardrobe, especially when you're doing a day of black & sterling!! Would compliment a Mexican wardrobe,but can look equally as wonderful with just about anything!
