ABOUT LARRY COOLEY TURQUOISE:

The turquoise that this was made with, came from the late "Larry Cooley's" private collection. Mr. Cooley was one of the most reputably known turquoise vendors in the industry, who artists would go to when they wanted the highest quality turquoise for their own designs.. Since he was very knowledgeable, he knew what separated the junk from the premium grades & was committed to offering only the finest that each mine produced. He was one who wouldn't dare offer turquoise to someone, that he himself, wouldn't want.

One would be right to say that, the turquoise he collected & sold, were qualities that only the finest of the finest "Turquoise Connoisseur's" would buy..He had a vast collection of nothing BUT premium turquoise that were all natural,since his rocks were mined long before they started treating turquoise & had the best that each mine produced.

So these cuts are an excellent grade of natural turquoise, which is getting more & more difficult to find anymore, unless you're willing to pay top dollar per carat. That is if you can find any, since much has gone into private collectors hands & have become very valuable... After Larry's passing, everyone wanted dibs on his whole collection, but because of Federico's long time connection with Larry & Larry's family, he was fortunate to purchase this 'once in a lifetime' limited & very pricy collection(This is reflected in price) So once these stones are used up, they're gone!

Words can't even begin to express the excitement you're bound to feel,just to have a necklace like this! The quality, the uniform trapezoidal cuts, the golden matrix character, design & length & with this particular necklace, this one seems to have it all!! It is one of the more amazing necklaces I have in stock at the moment or have carried of Federico's down through the years.. This is what you'd call a "Fine-Southwestern Couture" necklace & is exceptionally made with exceptional turquoise!

The turquoise in it is perfect example of not only the excellent quality of turquoise that Larry had,but knowing this industry as I do, it's not only extremely rare,but do you realize how impossible it is to find this much old Pilot Mountain turquoise in one single piece that match in shape AND character!?????? This alone,is what lends itself to the flawless-uniform look it has.

It is designed in a XXXL 47" long lariat, rosary style length, where 41" of that is in the neckline alone.The turquoise has a somewhat of a 'aqua blue' color with lots of true golden caramel colored matrix that gives each stone their unique character! The stones have a high glossy finish,which also validates the quality, since chalky, stabilized, lower grades won't give the lapidarist that same finishing to the stone.

The dragonfly's cuts are in proportion with the cuts on the neckline & at quick glance,looks almost like a cross. Each cut is then joined together by jump rings,which allows it to especially fold nicely for travel..

The turquoise is accentuated by a simple bezel setting as to not to distract from their beauty by flourishing sterling work,so the focus is brought directly to the stone. They sit in a contemporary mirror polish finished sterling.

This is a 'One of a Kind" necklace without another made,so only YOU will have this piece! It is Federico at his finest & is a necklace that can be used as an heirloom piece to be passed on to the next generation.
