Kewa Pueblo Award Winning Artist -JOLENE BIRD-6 Strand - Faceted Onyx Beaded Necklace with 25 Mosaic Inlaid Multi Color Panel Drops-22"
LEARN ABOUT THE JOLENE BIRD AT THE VERY BOTTOM!
THE NECKLACE:
Staying dedicated to her ancient Ancestral Puebloan roots, Jolene combined the perfect marriage of old traditional Pueblo techniques, while moving us into the contemporary world, by adding a very elegant touch to Puebloan jewelry! Never veering too far from her traditional upbringing, this is designed with just enough of traditional Kewa Puebloan mosaic work that validates as to which Pueblo made it..
Designed with an elegant Santa Fe'an/Southwestern vibe, Jolene chose to do this necklace with 6 strands of small 4 mm faceted onyx beads that give off a lot of sparkle & then attached to these strands by way of twisted sterling wire, are 25 various colored mosaic inlaid panels/drops, where they are sporadically placed in between various shaped non-dangling gemstones. All these colors are a sight for the eyes & contribute to the happy vibe it has! Non-faceted onyx beads, sterling cones & hook & eye finalize the design.
***This is one of those necklaces that can be elevated for an evening out or toned down for day wear depending on what you wear it with! Wear it with other Pueblo pieces of jewelry and or onyx! There's not too many colors that this necklace doesn't have & you can pull from any one of them!
**To see the amazing pieces I have listed by Jolene, including her EXQUISITE mosaic statue that's titled "KATHERINE AT THE MET GALA"!!!! To find: Put her name in the search bar when you're on the front page of the website! Also, I have listed a similar necklace to this one, but instead of Onyx, that one is made with 4 strands of turquoise nuggets & linear shaped mosaic drops! (Under the "Necklace" category)

*PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:
*****I do not consider myself a 'professional photographer" but I do try to give you photos that are 'realistic" in color, just so you're not shocked, nor disappointed when you get the piece. Although jewelry generally always looks better in person, you still have to take the monitor you're looking at the item with, into consideration. Please go through each photo to see any variation to get an idea. Whether it be your computer monitor or phone screen, the item can appear to be either more vivid (Or duller).
In order to give you close up photos so I can provide you with all the detail, photos can tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified than in actuality. So to get an idea of size, you can either look at it on the body (photo 2) or if you have a measuring tape, please pull it out & compare everything to the measurements I provided you with.

A PERSONAL WORD ABOUT KEWA PUEBLOAN AWARD WINNER "JOLENE BIRD":
It's pieces like this, that separate Jolene from other artists from the Kewa village and it's also pieces like this that take her individualistic artistic approach to a whole new level of design! Having worked closely with Jolene now for years, one thing I can personally say about her, is that there is nothing that she doesn't come in close contact with that she doesn't get her inspirations from, whether man made or God given. And it's what she sees with her eye that she then goes on to recreate & it’s this, that she also can’t stress enough to her artisan son Charles..She consistently tells him to 'be inspired' by what he sees & then emulate it with a mosaic picture done in traditional stone and shell.
I believe what Jolene offers, is not just about being another Puebloan mosaic artist, doing it the same way as everyone else, but rather stepping out of her own boundaries that separates her from others.. Jolene has wow’d us and all the judges at Native American juried events where she has gone on to making a mosaic inlaid chess set, mosaic sunglasses, fully mosaic gourd pots, mosaic chairs, a mini sized mosaic inlaid Volkswagen Beetle car and even went as far as fully mosaic inlaying a Gibson guitar!!(And that's just SOME of what she's made!) And at present, she's even working on a mosaic 'painting' of a woman she came in contact with that impressed Jolene enough to ‘paint’ her in mosaic form! The word "impossible" is NOT in this artists vocabulary! Jolene's work is highly collectible & gives us a historical ancestral Puebloan past, but with a contemporary edginess !
