I am honored to offer these earrings that came from Ellen Belber-Jiménez's private collection..Ellen has been the wife to the famed jewelry designer Federico now for 56 years.. Destined to be together for life,the stars were in the perfect alignment when Ellen & Federico met down in Oaxaca in the mid-60’s while she was there working with the UCLA Oaxaca Market Study Research Project & Federico was involved at that time in writing articles on Oaxaca's traditional Arts & Culture.. One might say "Oaxaca is Ellen" & Ellen is Oaxaca"..Her tastes for Oaxaca jewelry & textiles are exquisite & owned nothing BUT the finest that Oaxaca offers..These earrings are the perfect example of her fine tastes for the beautiful jewelry that came out of her loved Oaxaca. She & Federico hold a phenomenal collection of jewelry & textiles at their Museum in Oaxaca that bares the “Belber-Jimenez” name.

THE EARRINGS:
If you've never witness the 22K gold "Coin Jewelry" that is known to Oaxaca,these are the epitome..These were actually made in the early 20th century & were vintage when Ellen received them.

These are made with a traditional Oaxaca look where the focus is on the 1906 cinco pesos 22K coin.The coin is adorned with a decorative design that frames the top & then swaying below is the arracada bottom that is designed with leaves that follow the crescent shape & in the middle is a garland of seed pearls that are sewn into the design.What I absolutely adore are the swishy dangles that sit so tightly together & have almost an Etruscan look to them..

They have been professionally tested for their gold purity.
