THE EARRINGS:
This design is traditional to Oaxaca jewelry & is called the "Jardin" which is one of 5 of Oaxaca's most popularly designed earrings that is recognized for the "Bow" in the design & are one of the the more elaborate out of the 5..This style is also the closest in style that came out of the 18th century..The Jardin is very intricate in workmanship.
They have been professionally tested for their gold purity & test over 12K,but not quite 14k.They are a lengthy statement size earring with a measurement of 3-5/8" & are made in a triple tier design that has the most precise filigree workmanship.. You have to realize that each curve of the fine wire that you see, has to be mathematically even, otherwise the design is thrown off & destroys the look. Well made filigree jewelry has become a lost art, since it's a very time consuming process & many of today's artists don't get the money for all the time spent, especially when the artist's total goal is to make it right.
The design starts with the round top that has a garland of hand sewn tiny seed pearls that act as a halo for the baroque center pearl. The 2nd tier is where much of the design is & is made with 2 sections that equal to be a 'double bow". The portion where the baroque pearls dangle from off the sides is apart of this 2nd tier. The 3rd tier has a tear drop shape with seed pearls & a Baroque 2 pearl dangle in the center.
Regardless of their length, these aren't too bad in weight!
