Pre-Eagle - 1930's - 40's - Beautifully Designed - Vintage Mexican Amethyst Sterling Bracelet/ Earrings Set
This set comes from my own "Personal" collection that I have had with me for AT LEAST 30 years & have carried with me all this time.! I am downsizing on some pieces that I don't wear as much as others,so I thought I's pass it on.I have collected vintage Mexican jewelry for 50 years & honestly, this has always been a real favorite of mine.I have loved this piece so much that I used it in our nationally distributed "Santa Fean Magazine", where my store was featured during the Holiday Issue.. I chose to do a vintage Mexican/Amethyst theme for the shoot, where the model wore "Carlos Gutierrez's "Kneeling Angel" collar Necklace" (See in my listing) & this bracelet.
This set is the perfect example of what makes vintage Mexican jewelry so desirable & why it is so sought after! Pieces where my/our eyes gravitate toward them like some magnetic force, while showing off all the rich historical beauty that Mexico produced during those early days throughout Mexico..
Even though this is not hallmarked by a popularized name, the quality of workmanship shows no less than well known names we are familiar with in Mexican vintage. It is a well constructed piece, with each fluid sterling panel showcasing the perfectly cut pillow cuts of amethyst that are large in size & have a high raised domed top.The color is a rich dark purple with quartz inclusions.Mexican vintage is really the only place where I would see "Pillow Cuts" being used & was a very popular cut in these earlier Mexican pieces.(See my "FARFAN" bracelet that I have listed under “Woman’s Jewelry” then click on “Vintage Mexican jewelry” category)
Each panel has hidden pins which allows the bracelet to bend. The age offers some of the most beautiful patina, which gives it it's undeniable vintage Mexican look & because of this, the contrast is incredibly gorgeous!!!
Everything about this set, says it was done by a master artisan who knew what they were doing & it's obvious it was made with pride that the artist had in making a 'finer' piece of jewelry. The bracelet has a safety chain(Which were put on your 'better' pieces) & the closure is a "push in-pull out" tongue closure that has a 'clicking sound' when closed.(You want to hear this) It has a solid weight to it & is not a flimsy, weak style bracelet. This was made before it was mandatory that the Eagle stamp was to be stamped on.Would be a great addition for the serious vintage Mexican collector!
***This is made for a Small to a Small/Medium size wrist & because of the safety chain, makes it hard to measure..So to see if this will fit, I suggest you take a bracelet or a bangle & lay it on a tape measure & see what it measures(East to west) on the 'interior,NOT to the outside of the bracelet if it has stones, since that would give you an inaccurate reading.Lay it on the 1" & the see where it goes to the other side.
I would love this to go to someone who would love & appreciate it as much as I have!!
