Vintage Taxco- Tear Drop Shape- Etruscan/ Byzantine Revival -Lapis/ Sodalite(?) 925 Earrings
To not be limited in just one style jewelry, jewelry designers will generally soak up as much knowledge as they can by studying different periods of jewelry design that were being made during different eras of time & from various parts of the world..
The ancient Etruscan/ Byzantine period of jewelry design somehow found it's way into Mexico & you see this architectural style of jewelry design, especially in what was made, "Post-Mexican Silver Renaissance" Taxco jewelry. If you follow vintage Mexican jewelry history, you will find this very intricate wire design in anywhere from Oaxaca "Yalalag" crosses, to bracelets,to rings,etc.. It's a tedious art to work with such fine, small wire that is wrapped, twisted & is definitely something to be appreciated.
These are made in a statement size that are designed in a large size tear drop shape with a accent Lapis(or Sodalite) stone. They have some weight to them,so those with sensitive ears that can't handle a weighted earring, these may be too heavy.(Weights below)
**After writing the word"Lapis" in the photo & looking a little closer,I do think these could be "Sodalite!"
