ABOUT DENNIS HOGAN:
Literally a TRUE Santa Fe favorite,(and I say that with honesty!) there's literally nothing that Dennis doesn't make that doesn't have a breathtaking look!! (Even these little small earrings!) He's probably one of the most sought after southwestern Anglo artists whose work is very much HIGH in demand & continues to grow... His jewelry has a look like no other, with un~matched workmanship, where each of his pieces are made the "Old School" way.. Each of his pieces are then given the most amazing finish that is based on his secret hand finishing that produces THE most beautiful,warm patina tones that have a look of the past.
His continued interest in the American West,while studying in Indiana,he followed his passion for Fine Art & moved to Abiquiu,NM..After having met another Santa Fe favorite "Charlie Favour" there,Dennis learned the lost art of leather work & jewelry & worked as Charlies apprentice before moving to Santa Fe,where he eventually started his own line of jewelry/leather.. He's a 'one man show" & has developed into creating his own identifiable style. He's known for his old coin jewelry, leather/sterling jewelry & hand forged Ingot sterling jewelry. THE EARRINGS:
One thing that never be said about Dennis is that he does "Mediocre" work..Even something as small as these, he will put as much love into them,as his bigger pieces.
All 3 earrings are the same design,all are the same size,they have the same finishing,the only difference is with the 2 pairs of turquoise,one is more of a teal-sih blue,(#1) so they are a tad darker & the others are a light blue (#2) & then the spiny oyster,well they speak for themselves! The Spiny Oyster are more truer in color in photo 4,so check them out.
They are what I call "Charm" earrings because if you took off the ear wire they can easily be put on a charm bracelet! They are super wearable & light,while offering an authentic "Look of Santa Fe"! Where Dennis left the oxidation going down the center, really makes the earring pop & the overall look, as well as his precision, will make you realize why his work is so much in demand!
