The beauty that's found in the jewelry that comes from the Puebloan people that live inside the Kewa Pueblo Village of NM, is for the fact that everything is still hand cut & shaped with the power that comes from their artistic hands that is literally centuries & centuries old & which was passed down through Torevia's & Delbert's Ancestral Puebloan ancestors who once lived in the Pueblo Bonito/Chaco Canyon/Mesa Verde areas of the states & with each generation, this tradition of working with natural shells & stones gets passed onto every new generation.

This is the wondrous beauty of Puebloan art, is for the fact that they are the lapidarian' s of Native jewelry where everything is cut & shaped by hand. And with that said, these disks are completely made BY hand, where one by one, started from the larger cut of Spiny Oyster shell & then shaped & beveled over & over till the right disk like shape & size is formed. Yes, it's a time consuming process, but that is the beauty with 'old school' artisan made jewelry where the "Hand Made" factor is validated.. And being that these are hand made/rolled beads, you'll find some of the beads vary in thickness/size, so you'll find that some are in the 11 mm size,while toward the bottom they're in the 12 mm size range.

They are made in an elongated vertical style, where there are 12 hand rolled disks & used as spacers are 4 mm round Spiny Oyster heishi beads, which helps to add additional length.

Since most of the artisans from the village work without metal as a rule, allows these to be very wearable in weight, since they are made with only the shell. So your ears will love you for their weight! Pair these when you want to add a little color to the face or air them with any other Spiny Oyster pieces and or Puebloan jewelry!
