Circa 1960 Native American Made -Vintage Turquoise / Sterling -Small Thunderbird Earrings -Very Wearable 1.75" Length - 12 Grams Weight!
EARRING PROVENANCE:
These came from some very established/reputable life long Santa Fe residents who are serious Native arts collectors that happened to be downsizing on some personal items of theirs. These were actually passed down from their family,so they have been in the family collection for quite some time. I was told that these were originally screw back earrings at one time & the wife turned them in a post earring. I have some wonderful pieces left to be listed, so keep an eye out!

THE EARRINGS:
Nothing says Santa Fe or the Southwest more than some "Thunderbird" jewelry!!
Anchored from a beautifully made 16.5 mm round concho top, are hand tooled Thunderbirds & instead of having the usual square shape/boxy type frame that we normally see, these Thunderbirds have a rounded wing frame design. They have traditional tooling/stamping in the sterling & in the center are 4 mm round cabs of turquoise, with one being blue & the other being green. Now whether they were originally this color or if the one had changed to green over time, I can't say.
Perfect earrings to wear with all your DDR (Double D Ranchwear) clothing & or any other western attire! They are small & have a very wearable weight that your ears will love! They will also compliment any vintage to modern day traditional Native American-Navajo jewelry-Southwestern jewelry!
