Circa 1950's SMALL and DAINTY 13K Gold/Ruby-Guatemalan Arracada Earrings-(From Federico's Museum Gold Collection) For Child to Adult!
EARRING PROVENANCE:
From Federico's gold collection that originally were being housed in his "Jimenez- Belber" museum in Oaxaca..Most people know his name for his head turning turquoise jewelry, his romantic Oaxaca Dove jewelry plus so much more, but most don't know that since a young man,he has been a avid collector of some of the most highly prized pieces of both gold & silver jewelry with the focus of his collection on Mexico & Native American jewelry & artifacts. He has exquisite tastes & incredible knowledge for the "rare & unusual" with many pieces being over the top, which are much like his own designs..

THE EARRINGS:
Small & light on the ears, these are created with a very authentic Latin American look, that are incredibly pretty while they glow in their miniscule sized setting. When I look at these, all I'm reminded of is how the Spanish/Moors jewelry influence was deeply embedded into this area of the world. And with that said, these I'd say, have a very Spanish/Moors look, regardless of where they're made.
Clinging to the diamond cut yellow gold/ruby floral textured top, is a smaller 1/4 moon arracada shape that is then connected to a larger drop that tapers as it nears the center. The small 3 mm fuchsia colored rubies are held down with 4 primitive style prongs, where you can clearly see they are hand made. Each of the 3 sections of gold all have had a 'diamond cut' technique done to the metal, so rather than these sections being left bare & bland, they have been dressed up with a light diamond cut etching within the gold. (Please zoom in on the photos)
They are very well made & I wouldn't be surprised if these weren't made for a close family member.(More time & love always seems to go into those!)rThe gold has been professionally tested at 13k gold.
These would be perfect as a starter earring for a little toddler, but are also perfect for the adult woman who loves the historical beauty of vintage Latin American jewelry that has collector's quality!
