BRACELET PROVENANCE:
I am very honored to have been offered some very rare gold jewelry, with many having Mexican coins (including coins known to Oaxaca jewelry) that once belonged to "Ellen Belber-Jiménez" & comes from her estate.. Ellen was the wife to the famed jewelry designer Federico for 56 years until her unfortunate recent passing..(Please see my vast inventory of jewelry by Federico)

Ellen & Federico met down in Oaxaca in the mid-60's while she was there working with the UCLA Oaxaca Market Study Research Project & Federico was involved at that time in writing articles on Oaxaca's traditional Arts & Culture..Ellen lived & breathed the beautiful art of Oaxaca, the amazing jewelry, the hand woven textiles, the clothing, the food, etc. & like her husband, could tell you everything about each of them & was highly skilled on each subject. And through all her years living there &
thereafter,

Ellen collected quite the collection, that honestly should be in a museum. Her tastes for Oaxaca jewelry were exquisite & owned nothing BUT the finest that Oaxaca offers.. This incredible heavy duty fine gold bracelet is just one example of her fine tastes for the beautiful jewelry she owned. There are pieces owned by Ellen that are also housed at their museum in Oaxaca that shares her & her husbands name ("Museo Belber Jimenez" ) which has one of the most phenomenal, historical collections of jewelry & textiles known to Oaxaca & the region..

THE BRACELET:
This is a vintage bracelet & has been in storage for at LEAST 50 years until I was offered it.

The 1st thing you will notice when you get this in hand, is it's extremely heavy duty weight. Unfortunately we can't get the real picture of weight by photos alone when shopping online, but you have to trust me on this, there's ALOT of gold in this one piece!! You will definitely feel this one on or off the arm!!! (see weights below, as well as zoom in on photo 9)

This fancy link bracelet is impeccably made with interlocking links of heavy gauge 18k gold wire, where each circular section never loses form. You can't tell where one starts or where one ends, since you don't see any solder marks! The gold wire has approximately a 2 mm thickness, which contributes to it's weight. On both top & underside, the once round wire has been flattened & gives the bracelet it's unique look.

THE COIN:
The 22k gold 50 Pesos coin is the largest bullion coin from Mexico..On one side it has Mexico's national coat of arms featuring a golden eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its beak & on the reverse is the iconic Winged Victory "The Angel of Independence" design..These coins were issued by Banco de México from 1921-1947.

The coin itself (without bezel) has 37.5 grams (1.20 Oz.) of pure gold & is made up of an alloy of 90% pure gold and 10% copper.. On the coin it says 37.5 "Oro Puro" meaning 'pure gold"..(see photo 4). The coin however, weighs more than this.(see coin weight info below)

The coin itself has a diameter of 37mm (Just under 1.5"-without bezel) It is bezel set in a 18K bezel,so the diameter is a bit larger because of this. (38.7 mm(1.52") The 22k gold coin is soldered by way of a gold wire link,so it is non removable & is in there good.

It looks wonderful as it is,but would also make a great charm bracelet if one wanted to do that!!! Would make a wonderful gift & OR investment!

**I will be listing many gold pieces from Ellen's personal collection, including gold & diamond jewelry, so please keep checking back**
