BOLO PROVENANCE:

This vintage Navajo made bolo came through my store that was owned by a gentleman who bought it years ago at the Taos, NM based "Millicent Rogers" Museum.He bought it used & the bolo had some years on it when it was purchased.

THE BOLO:

Made for the wearer who prefer their jewelry & or bolos on the more smaller understated size. Undeniably Navajo in design, the design has 3 cuts of turquoise that graduate in size & are all housed in serrated-sawtooth bezels. For it's age, what is obvious, is the lack of color change in the cuts, which gives validation of the 'quality' of the turquoise, since lower grade cuts are softer, which means they're more porous & will have changed from blue to green by now. This comes with no surprise however, since back at the time this was made ,they weren't treating turquoise like they're doing now in present day. Back then, natural & better grades were much more available. The sterling work is very traditional where the perimeter is made with a sawed design.

It has the same style locking mechanism as the "Bennett" adjuster,but is not marked with the name.
